Swamp Town Breakdown

For this project I really wanted to create some tools that could work together to create a whole scene that looks like it goes together instead of random separated projects.

To achieve this I created 4 HDA's (Houdini Digital Assets), which will procedural create objects like shacks, wooden walkways, lamp posts and a small to to create wooden planks of various lengths.

If you want to check out the HDA's for yourself to see how I made them here is the link. Hopefully I organized them enough to not be to hard to understand.

I used Megascans assets for all of the vegetation and materials, except for the lamp and flames which I made myself.

I wanted to try and get a nice scene of a rundown janky swamp town type of scene and it came out pretty well. Its amazing how much those small planks, that connect the shacks to the walkway, add to the scene.

I forgot to show it, but the walkways takes in a basic curve to create the path. I wanted the walkways to look rickety, but still seem sturdy enough for use.

This HDA takes in a box to create the general size of the shack and you can edit it from there. I wanted the shacks to be broken or janky enough to see any light pour through the cracks between the planks.

For the rope I took inspiration from Simon's video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyA7JboNTT0
Though I put it into a solver SOP so the ropes can collide with each other.
